Shanghai Electric presents three energy transition solutions at Enlit Asia
At the Enlit Asia 2026 event in Jakarta, Shanghai Electric showcased three solutions for energy transition, aimed at supporting the ASEAN region's energy transformation and emissions reduction efforts.

JAKARTA, Indonesia – Shanghai Electric unveiled three key solutions for the energy transition at Enlit Asia 2026, held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from September 22-24, 2026. The event serves as a primary annual platform for the ASEAN energy sector, gathering industry leaders and policymakers.
The company's presented solutions address critical regional energy transition needs, focusing on reducing carbon emissions from existing thermal power systems, enhancing the integration of renewables, and ensuring the stability of island grids. Additionally, the solutions aim to provide low-carbon fuels for the maritime and aviation industries.
One presented solution, "High-Efficiency Power & Decarbonization," is designed to help markets like Indonesia lower their grid's carbon intensity. It includes upgrading existing facilities, enabling fuel switching, and optimizing systems. The offerings feature modular steam turbines for combined heat and power, as well as high-performance gas turbines capable of operating with up to 30% hydrogen content. Retrofitting solutions for coal-fired power plants are also available to improve thermal efficiency and reduce coal consumption.
The "Grid Modernization & Resilience Upgrade" solution tackles challenges in island grids related to renewable energy integration, frequency regulation, and voltage stability. It incorporates synchronous condensers, flywheels, and multi-technology energy storage. Furthermore, "Power-to-X" integration solutions cover wind and solar power generation, green hydrogen production, and the synthesis of green methanol, aiming to support the demand for low-carbon fuels in ASEAN's shipping and aviation sectors.
Shanghai Electric has a notable track record in Southeast Asia, with its energy facilities and services deployed in countries like Indonesia and Malaysia. The company also participated in technical conferences and engaged with local stakeholders, including Indonesia's state electricity company, PLN, to discuss fuel diversification and grid development.
