Shanghai Electric presents three energy transition solutions at Enlit Asia

Shanghai Electric presented three energy transition solutions at the Enlit Asia 2026 exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia, from September 22-24. The showcased solutions aim to support the energy transition across the ASEAN region, focusing on decarbonization, grid resilience, and low-carbon fuels.

The event, a key platform for the ASEAN energy sector, attracted over 11,000 attendees and 280 exhibitors. Shanghai Electric's presentations highlighted its offerings to help reduce carbon emissions from existing thermal power systems, enhance the integration of renewable energy sources, and ensure the stable operation of island grids. Additionally, the company addressed the need for low-carbon fuels for the maritime and aviation industries.

The three core solutions presented include: 1) High-efficiency and decarbonization for power generation, designed to lower the carbon intensity of energy systems through upgrades and fuel switching. 2) Grid modernization and resilience, addressing challenges in island grids with technologies like synchronous condensers and energy storage systems. 3) Integrated Power-to-X solutions, encompassing renewable energy production, green hydrogen, and green methanol synthesis.

Shanghai Electric is expanding these Power-to-X solutions to the maritime and aviation sectors in ASEAN countries to support low-carbon fuel supply chains. The company's existing projects in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam, demonstrate its capabilities in implementing conventional, renewable, and green fuel projects.

During the event, Shanghai Electric also delivered a technical presentation on high-efficiency gas turbine technology. The company engaged with local stakeholders, including PLN (Indonesia's national energy company), to discuss fuel diversification and the development of Indonesia's power grid. Shanghai Electric stated its commitment to collaborating with ASEAN partners to foster more efficient, stable, and low-carbon energy systems throughout Southeast Asia.
