Shanghai Electric showcased three energy transition solutions at Enlit Asia 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia, under the theme "Powering the Archipelago." The event, running from September 22-24, focuses on the energy sector's transformation in the ASEAN region.
The presented solutions aim to address key challenges in Southeast Asia, including reducing emissions from existing power generation, enhancing grid resilience for renewable energy integration, and developing low-carbon fuels. These initiatives are tailored to the specific needs of the ASEAN market.
One solution focuses on high-efficiency power generation and decarbonization, offering upgrades for thermal power plants to reduce emissions and fuel consumption. Shanghai Electric's gas turbine technology can utilize hydrogen blends, and their solutions for coal-fired power plants aim to improve efficiency and lower carbon output.
Another key area is grid modernization and resilience, providing technologies such as synchronous condensers and energy storage systems to support the integration of renewables and stabilize island grids. The third solution involves integrated Power-to-X technologies, covering the entire chain from wind and solar power to green hydrogen and methanol production, with an eye toward decarbonizing the maritime and aviation sectors in ASEAN.
