Shanxi launches urban parking AI agent Bolin to manage vehicle traffic
Shanxi province has introduced Bolin, an AI system designed to integrate real-time parking data and optimize space utilization across urban areas.
At the 2026 China Urban Parking Industry Conference, Shanxi authorities unveiled Bolin, an AI agent developed by Shanxi Construction Investment Static Traffic Company. The system aggregates real-time data from street-side parking, public garages, and residential shared spaces to generate heat maps and parking difficulty indices.
According to the developers, the tool aims to improve parking turnover rates by optimizing pricing strategies and providing drivers with navigation routes to available spots. Preliminary testing indicated that Bolin increased daily turnover rates from 2.1 to 3.5 per space while reducing manual labor costs by approximately 60% to 70%.
Local officials plan to expand the platform by opening its interface to external companies, aiming to integrate private and commercial parking resources into a unified network. This initiative follows a broader push to reduce traffic congestion caused by vehicles searching for parking in high-density urban areas.
