Sharjah to Host International Publishers Congress 2028

Sharjah City in the United Arab Emirates will host the International Publishers Congress (IPC) in October 2028. The announcement was made during an official handover ceremony held at the IPA 2026 Gala Dinner in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The congress, sponsored by the Sharjah Book Authority, is set to bring together leading publishers, authors, and industry experts from around the globe. The Emirates Publishers Association will organize the event in close collaboration with the International Publishers Association (IPA). The designated theme for the 2028 congress is "Inclusion. Innovation. Integrity.".

H.H. Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and Honorary President of the Emirates Publishers Association, highlighted that Sharjah's selection reflects confidence in the emirate's capacity to serve as a venue for dialogue and exchange. She expressed anticipation in welcoming industry professionals to foster international partnerships and explore future opportunities within the publishing sector.

The IPC, organized biennially by the IPA, serves as a key forum for addressing emerging challenges and future trends. IPA President Gvantsa Jobava conveyed enthusiasm for Sharjah's selection, underscoring the importance of industry collaboration in promoting copyright and freedom to publish.
