Shelly's new presence sensor detects up to 10 people without a camera

Shelly has introduced a new accessory for smart home automation, the Presence Gen4 sensor. This device is designed to detect the presence, motion, and activities of people and pets in rooms or large spaces without recording video.

The sensor employs mmWave radar technology, enabling it to identify up to 10 individuals concurrently. This camera-free approach addresses privacy concerns while still facilitating automation based on occupancy.

The Presence Gen4 is available starting today for $84.99 through Shelly's online store. The company expects the sensor to be available at other retailers, including Amazon and Best Buy, in the near future.

Users can place the device on a shelf or table using its built-in stand, or opt for permanent mounting. This flexibility allows for integration into various smart home setups and environments where motion detection is needed.
