Shenzhen Expands Smart Home Subsidies to 10 Product Categories
Shenzhen has expanded its subsidy program for the purchase of smart home and other smart products to cover 10 categories, including smart toilets and cleaning robots.
Shenzhen, China, has broadened its subsidy program for the purchase of smart home and other intelligent products. The initiative now encompasses 10 distinct product categories, offering consumers purchase rebates on eligible smart home and other smart devices. This expansion aims to encourage the adoption of smart technology in households.
The scope of subsidized products now includes items such as smart beds, adaptive assistive devices for the elderly, smart displays, projectors, smart toilets, cleaning robots, digital cameras, drones, smart cooktops, dishwashers, water purifiers, and home automation control equipment. The program specifically includes aged-care assistive products.
Individual consumers are eligible for a 15% rebate on the final sales price after all other discounts are applied. The maximum subsidy per product is capped at 1,500 yuan (approximately $205 USD), with a limit of one subsidized item per category per consumer. Products must meet specified energy efficiency or water efficiency standards where applicable.
This initiative by the Shenzhen municipal government seeks to foster the growth of the smart home market and incentivize consumers to upgrade their homes with technologically advanced appliances. The expanded subsidy program is effective through 2026, providing consumers with a significant window to take advantage of the financial incentives.
