Shenzhou 23 Crew Marks Two Months in Orbit
The Shenzhou 23 crew has completed two months aboard the space station, conducting scientific experiments and maintaining station operations. Health monitoring and platform support are ongoing.

The crew of the Shenzhou 23 mission has reached the two-month mark in orbit, according to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA). The astronauts, Zhu Yangzhu, Zhang Zhiyuan, and Li Jiaying, are progressing with their scientific experiments and ensuring the continued operation of the space station.
Among the ongoing experiments is a study on gut microbiota and nutritional metabolism under prolonged spaceflight conditions. The crew is utilizing a space Raman spectrometer to analyze metabolic components in urine samples, investigating how the intestinal flora changes and affects nutrient metabolism in microgravity. Further research involves assessing changes in astronauts' fine motor control and adaptive learning mechanisms through equipment testing, aiming to understand the effects of long-duration space missions.
Cerebral activity is also under scrutiny, with the crew conducting multiple in-orbit electroencephalogram (EEG) tests to explore the physiological mechanisms behind alterations in cognitive function during space flight. The crew has also performed maintenance and sample exchanges in various laboratory modules, including those for combustion science and containerless processing, and has conducted rendezvous and docking training.
In addition to research, the crew is responsible for the upkeep of the space station. This includes inspecting and maintaining the regenerative life support systems, performing component replacements, and organizing the interior environment. Health management is a priority, with regular medical examinations, non-invasive cardiac function tests, and continuous monitoring using Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic equipment. Astronauts are also adhering to a strict exercise regimen, using equipment designed to counteract the physiological effects of weightlessness, such as bone loss.
