Shoei GT-Air 3 Smart Helmet Integrates HUD Display
Shoei has launched its GT-Air 3 Smart motorcycle helmet, integrating a heads-up display (HUD) functionality. The helmet has a starting price of 1,277 euros.
Motorcycle helmet manufacturer Shoei has officially released the GT-Air 3 Smart helmet, which incorporates a heads-up display (HUD) system. The helmet is available starting at 1,277 euros.
Shoei, founded in 1959 and known for its premium motorsport helmets, partnered with French HUD technology firm EyeLights for this integration. The HUD system is built into the helmet's internal nano-LED sun visor, which can be retracted when not in use. The technology projects information into the rider's field of vision, approximately three meters ahead.
The GT-Air 3 Smart helmet displays key information such as speed, route, and navigation directly in the rider's line of sight. Shoei states this design allows riders to maintain focus on the road ahead, potentially increasing reaction time by up to 32%.
In addition to the HUD features, the GT-Air 3 Smart helmet includes integrated microphones and speakers. These allow for phone calls and rider-to-rider communication, as well as voice control of smart assistants, without requiring the rider to look down at instruments or a smartphone.
