Chinese technology company Honor has released a new short film titled "Return Day" (返航日), which premiered on July 27. Notably, the entire film was shot using Honor's Robot Phone smartphone, a device designed to facilitate continuous visual storytelling.
The film was directed by renowned Chinese cinematographer Wang Boxue, known for his work on "Dying to Survive" and "My People, My Country." The single-take approach highlights the capabilities of the Robot Phone's specialized camera system.
The Honor Robot Phone features an integrated four degrees of freedom (4DoF) mechanical gimbal system made from titanium alloy. This system is reportedly 70% smaller than comparable mainstream solutions and is powered by a fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 processor.
The device is slated for an August release and will also be the first to feature Honor's new AgenticOS operating system, designed for multimodal intelligent agents. An early version will be previewed with the Honor Magic 9 series.
