Sibanye Stillwater Limited has made significant progress in its acquisition of Aquarius Platinum Limited. The company announced on January 19, 2016, that Aquarius Platinum shareholders have approved an amalgamation resolution, paving the way for Sibanye Stillwater to acquire all shares in Aquarius Platinum for a cash consideration of USD 0.195 per share.

This shareholder approval is a crucial step toward finalizing the deal. Earlier in January, Sibanye Stillwater's own shareholders also overwhelmingly approved the acquisition of Rustenburg Operations from Anglo American Platinum Limited. Together, these two transactions would substantially bolster Sibanye Stillwater's position in the platinum market.

The implementation of the Aquarius transaction, however, remains subject to certain conditions precedent. The most significant of these is the approval from the South African Competition Authorities. Sibanye Stillwater is committed to fulfilling all outstanding conditions as expeditiously as possible.

Neal Froneman, CEO of Sibanye Stillwater, expressed satisfaction with the shareholder support for both acquisitions and highlighted the anticipation of integrating Rustenburg and Aquarius operations. The company is confident that the acquired platinum assets will generate significant value for all stakeholders.
