Sibanye-Stillwater Recycles Post-Consumer E-Scrap
Sibanye-Stillwater Limited has expanded its operations to include the recycling of post-consumer electronic scrap (e-scrap), focusing on the recovery of valuable metals. The company now offers solutions for processing electronic waste containing materials like gold, silver, and palladium.

Sibanye-Stillwater Limited is expanding its business to include the recycling of post-consumer electronic scrap (e-scrap). The company aims to recover precious and critical metals such as gold, silver, palladium, and copper from discarded electronics.
The new recycling services target recyclers, IT asset disposition (ITAD) providers, and collection programs. Sibanye-Stillwater is providing solutions designed to maximize metal recovery rates while ensuring data security and responsible recycling practices.
With shorter device lifecycles and increasing volumes of electronic waste, efficient recovery strategies are becoming more critical. The company highlights that valuable metals can be extracted from components found in consumer devices, IT and telecom equipment, and peripherals, including printed circuit boards, CPUs, connectors, server boards, and networking equipment.
Materials such as cables, power supplies, and even residues from processing facilities like dust and shredded fractions are also processed for precious metal recovery. Sibanye-Stillwater believes that even fragmented materials can yield significant returns when processed correctly, turning electronic waste into a sustainable source of metals.
