Sibanye-Stillwater secures majority stake in Keliber through share issues
Sibanye-Stillwater will invest EUR 146 million into Keliber, securing a majority shareholding. An Extraordinary General Meeting also approved a EUR 104 million share issue for other shareholders.

Sibanye-Stillwater Limited has finalized its majority stake acquisition in European lithium project developer Keliber Oy through a significant capital injection. The company subscribed to new shares worth EUR 146 million during Keliber's Extraordinary General Meeting on July 11, 2022.
This strategic investment escalates Sibanye-Stillwater's ownership in Keliber to a majority position, as per the existing shareholders' agreement. In addition to Sibanye-Stillwater's commitment, the meeting also approved a further share issue of approximately EUR 104 million. This secondary issue is open to current shareholders who have not tendered their shares under Sibanye-Stillwater's voluntary offer.
Finnish Minerals Group, Keliber's second-largest shareholder, is also preparing to participate in the new share issuance. The resolutions passed are critical for advancing Keliber's lithium production project.
Keliber aims to supply lithium hydroxide for the European battery industry. Sibanye-Stillwater's increased involvement strengthens its position within the European battery metals supply chain.
