Sichuan launches global call for AI-generated animated drama series
Authorities in Sichuan have introduced the Zongmu initiative to promote the production and international distribution of AI-generated animated dramas.
Officials in Sichuan province announced the Zongmu project on October 20, a global initiative aimed at sourcing and distributing high-quality AI-generated animated drama series. The launch took place during a regional innovation conference in Chengdu, which gathered over 200 representatives from industry, academia, and government sectors to discuss the future of the local audiovisual market.
Sichuan has seen significant growth in its online audiovisual sector, reporting that its content has reached audiences in over 50 countries with a cumulative total exceeding 800 million overseas views. As the industry matures, stakeholders are shifting focus from high-volume output to higher-quality intellectual property and operational excellence.
The Zongmu initiative is designed to function as an industrial ecosystem, connecting creators with production resources, technology, and international distribution channels. By leveraging AI, the project intends to adapt Sichuan’s cultural narratives into formats suitable for global markets, supported by a newly established industrial park and sector alliance.
