Sichuan Publisher to Release Three Works by Nobel Laureate Anne Carson

Sichuan People's Publishing House will release three books by Canadian poet Anne Carson, winner of the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature, introducing her diverse literary world to Chinese readers.

10 October 2026

Sichuan People's Publishing House has announced plans to publish three works by Canadian poet Anne Carson, who was awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature. The titles, "The Trojan Women," "Men in the Off Hours," and "Economy of the Unlost," will soon be available to Chinese readers.

Carson is an internationally recognized poet and classical philologist known for blurring genre boundaries by integrating academic inquiry with poetic writing. The publisher states that these three upcoming books showcase different facets of her creative output, including a graphic adaptation of a tragedy, a cross-genre poetry collection, and a work of classical and modern poetics.

"The Trojan Women" is a graphic adaptation of Euripides' classic tragedy, created in collaboration with visual artist Rosanna Bruno. The work confronts the devastation of war through the experiences of women in the aftermath of Troy's fall, utilizing distinct visual language and text.

"Men in the Off Hours," originally published in 2001, is a collection of poetry that juxtaposes figures from different eras to create dialogues. "Economy of the Unlost" blends scholarship with poetic reflection, exploring themes of language, memory, and loss through the lens of ancient Greek poet Simonides and Holocaust survivor Paul Celan.
