SIEB & MEYER Upgrades SD2Bplus Series Device with NRTL Approval and Higher Output Current

SIEB & MEYER AG has upgraded its popular SD2Bplus servo amplifier, with new versions set to be available from the second quarter of 2020. These enhancements include NRTL certification, enabling direct integration into systems for the US market without additional approvals, and a higher current output variant.

The new high-current version offers a 30% increase in nominal and peak current compared to the standard model, while maintaining the same physical dimensions. "In the new high-current model of the SD2Bplus, we have reduced the operating voltage to 50 VDC, which allowed the use of power semiconductors and thus increased the nominal current," explained Torsten Blankenburg, Chief Technology Officer at SIEB & MEYER AG. "The higher output current of 13 A further expands the device's application range."

The SD2Bplus is suitable for both high-dynamic servo applications with low-voltage servo motors and for optimizing the operation of high-speed synchronous and asynchronous motors. In high-speed applications, it functions as a frequency converter with sensor-based control using TTL encoders, allowing angular-synchronous operation of multiple high-speed motors up to 120,000 rpm.

This update addresses specific market demands, particularly from European customers who sell products globally and require NRTL certification for the US market. The device is housed in a compact IP20 enclosure and is designed for a variety of applications where flexibility and performance are essential.
