Siemens Mobility signs approximately €3 billion contract with Italo

Siemens Mobility has secured a significant contract with Italian high-speed rail operator Italo Holding for the supply of 26 Velaro Multi System high-speed trains, with an option for 14 additional units.

The agreement, valued at approximately €3 billion, also includes a comprehensive 30-year full-service contract. Each of the new eight-car trainsets will be capable of speeds up to 320 km/h and will accommodate around 440 passengers. The trains feature multi-system capabilities allowing operation under four different power supply systems, enhancing cross-network flexibility.

Manufacturing of the new fleet will take place at Siemens Mobility's facility in Krefeld, Germany. Long-term maintenance and service will be provided from the company's depot in Dortmund, incorporating digital services such as the Railigent X platform for predictive maintenance and operational efficiency.

This deal reinforces Siemens Mobility's market position in the high-speed rail sector and highlights its ability to deliver end-to-end solutions, from manufacturing to long-term digitalized service packages, supporting the modernization of European rail infrastructure.
