Siemens Technology Aids Development of Faster, More Efficient Yacht
Siemens is supporting Caponnetto Hueber in the development of the Bluegame BGF45 yacht, utilizing Simcenter simulation technologies. The goal is to enhance hydrodynamic performance and reduce fuel consumption.

German technology firm Siemens has announced its support for Spanish naval engineering specialist Caponnetto Hueber SL in the development of the new Bluegame BGF45 yacht. The project leverages Siemens' Simcenter simulation and digital twin technologies from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio.
The Bluegame BGF45 is a 45-foot foil-assisted catamaran capable of exceeding 35 knots. The design incorporates Caponnetto Hueber's experience from America's Cup racing, aiming to transfer high-performance hydrodynamic expertise to the commercial pleasure craft market.
According to the company, the foil-assisted hydrodynamic design can achieve a 30% to 40% reduction in drag compared to conventional catamarans. This, in turn, allows for a reduction in fuel consumption by up to 30%, improving both operational efficiency and environmental performance.
Siemens' Simcenter software was employed for structural analysis, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), seakeeping and maneuvering studies, and fluid-structure interaction modeling. Siemens' SENTRON technology is also being used to enhance the reliability of the yacht's electrical systems and energy management.
Caponnetto Hueber stated that Siemens' technology enabled faster concept evaluation and optimization of the foil configuration, resulting in a design that delivers measurable improvements in both efficiency and comfort.
