Siensmetrica Rebrands as Tessa AI, Inc.
Siensmetrica, Inc., developer of the AI-powered Tessa research evaluation platform, has officially changed its name to Tessa AI, Inc. The new name reflects the company's expanding mission to support the full lifecycle of scientific research.
Tucson, Arizona – Siensmetrica, Inc., the developer of the AI-powered Tessa research evaluation platform, announced its official name change to Tessa AI, Inc. The change, effective October 7, aligns the company with the name already in use by its customers and partners.
The company's original name, Siensmetrica, signified its origin as a system for scoring published research. Since its launch in May 2026, Tessa has assisted researchers, clinicians, and biopharma professionals in evaluating biomedical studies.
Tessa AI is expanding its scope to encompass the entire lifecycle of scientific research. The company is developing tools to strengthen manuscripts before submission, rapidly survey entire fields of literature, enable public verification of research behind news stories, and evaluate older published works. This expansion is described by the company as addressing the "natural history of scientific research."
"Most of the tools that touch a study's natural history were built for a slower world," stated Chief Science Officer Marvin J. Slepian. "Our goal is to bring transparency and rigor to every stage, so good science is recognized wherever it comes from."
Tessa AI posits that research evaluation has not kept pace with the volume of published science. Peer review is strained and susceptible to manipulation, citation counts can be inflated, and prestige metrics often substitute for genuine assessment. The company believes the research landscape requires disruption and has recently removed author reputation from its TScore to judge papers solely on evidence. The first new Tessa product is anticipated in the coming weeks.
