Sierra Madre Gold and Silver Ltd. has announced the commencement of full commercial production at its 100%-owned Guitarra Mine Complex, located in Estado de Mexico, Mexico. Production officially began on January 1, 2025, with the processing plant and underground mine now operating at their current capacity of 500 wet metric tonnes per day for the past three months.
Company CEO Alex Langer stated that this transition to full commercial production will enable the reporting of detailed mining statistics, including revenues, costs, profits, and all-in sustaining costs (AISC) per ounce of silver, in upcoming quarterly and annual financial reports.
During the 2024 test mining phase, the Guitarra Mine shipped a total of 1,292.5 dry metric tonnes of concentrate, averaging 2,594.2 grams of silver per tonne and 34.93 grams of gold per tonne. An additional 94.6 tonnes of concentrate were in inventory at the end of the year.
In addition to the Guitarra Mine, Sierra Madre Gold and Silver Ltd. is also focused on the Tepic Project in Nayarit, Mexico. The company's management team has prior experience in managing the exploration and development of over 22 million ounces of gold and 600 million ounces of silver in past projects.
