Sierra Madre Expands Guitarra Mine Processing Capacity

Sierra Madre Gold and Silver Ltd. announced that its Guitarra silver-gold mine processing plant has achieved throughputs of up to 720 tonnes per day following Phase 1 expansion modifications. This represents more than a 40% increase compared to the previous nameplate capacity of 500 tonnes per day.

The company has completed the installation of a new 11x12 ball mill, which is expected to increase processing capacity to between 1,200 and 1,500 tonnes per day under Phase 2 plans. Commissioning of the new mill is anticipated in November 2026. Alongside the plant expansion, Sierra Madre has accelerated underground development at its Nazareno and Guitarra mines.

Development work has also begun on the permitted dry stack tailings facility expansion, a key component of the Phase 2 plan. Groundworks are underway, and the company is preparing tender documents for the earthworks contract.

Furthermore, Sierra Madre is examining the potential to bring a portion of the East District, specifically the Santa Ana deposit, into production. The 2023 resource estimate for Santa Ana included over 761,000 tonnes in the measured category, with reported silver grades.
