Sierra Madre to Expand La Guitarra Mine Capacity in Mexico
Sierra Madre Gold and Silver plans a two-stage expansion at its La Guitarra silver-gold mine complex. The company expects to increase near-term capacity by over 50% by Q2 2026 and over 100% by Q3 2027.

Sierra Madre Gold and Silver Ltd. announced plans for a two-stage expansion at its La Guitarra silver-gold mine complex in Estado de Mexico, Mexico. The company anticipates increasing near-term processing capacity by more than 50% to a range of 750 to 800 dry tonnes per day (tpd) by the second quarter of 2026, up from the current 500 tpd.
The first phase of expansion will involve constructing a paste fill and thickener plant, adding a fourth ball mill and a second cone crusher, and increasing the conveyor circuit's material handling capacity. This stage is targeted for completion by Q2 2026.
A subsequent expansion, slated for Q3 2027, aims to further boost capacity to between 1,200 and 1,500 tpd. This will be achieved through the construction of a new, permitted Dry Stack Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) and the addition of a second crushing circuit.
Sierra Madre stated that it has sufficient capital access to fund these expansions through its treasury and cash flow, avoiding the need for further near-term capital raises. The company also noted that the planned expansions do not require additional permits, and equipment procurement for the first phase is underway, with deliveries expected in November 2025.
