SIG SAUER Unveils Counter Drone Electro-Optic System

SIG SAUER has unveiled the XRAY9-CUAS, a new electro-optic system designed for counter unmanned aircraft systems (CUAS). The device was presented at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) trade show, offering a new capability for combating drone threats.

The XRAY9-CUAS is designed to be mounted on remote weapon station platforms. It utilizes advanced electro-optical technologies, including a proprietary SWIR laser rangefinder and onboard slew-rate sensors. These systems work together to rapidly calculate a drone's distance, speed, and vector, generating a dynamic reticle for targeting.

The system can track and engage targets up to 300 yards, with effectiveness varying based on drone size. It can be integrated with both CMOS and thermal sensors to provide day, night, and fused imaging capabilities for the fire control system.

SIG SAUER stated that the development of the XRAY9-CUAS was accelerated due to current battlefield needs. The company, known for its firearms, is expanding its focus on remote weapon stations and electro-optics to support military personnel.
