Sigma fp II Camera Rumored to Feature Built-in Viewfinder
New reports suggest Sigma is preparing to release the fp II, a compact full-frame camera with an integrated electronic viewfinder, priced around $2,500.
Industry sources indicate that Sigma is set to launch the fp II, a successor to its compact full-frame camera line. The upcoming model is expected to feature a built-in electronic viewfinder (EVF), a significant addition addressing a limitation of its predecessors which relied on external viewfinders.
The camera is reportedly equipped with a 24-megapixel full-frame sensor. While lower in resolution than the 2021 fp L model's 61 megapixels, this is seen as a strategic choice, potentially optimizing the camera for video production. Reports suggest the fp II will support direct RAW and open-gate video recording to the memory card, streamlining professional video workflows.
The Sigma fp II is expected to maintain a compact body design, slightly larger than previous models, and will utilize the L-mount system, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of lenses from Sigma, Leica, and Panasonic.
The estimated price for the Sigma fp II is approximately $2,500, an increase from the original fp's launch price. An announcement could occur as early as late October or November.
