Sika acquires Akkim, expanding its reach in Middle East and Central Asia

Sika, a global specialty chemicals company, has finalized the acquisition of Akkim, a Turkey-based manufacturer of adhesives and sealants. Akkim reported net sales of approximately CHF 220 million in 2025. This transaction is set to bolster Sika's standing in the sector and broaden its presence across Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa.

The acquisition grants Sika access to Akkim's established distribution network and additional manufacturing capacity. This move is expected to create a new export hub for adhesives and sealants, leveraging Akkim's proprietary formulations and research and development base. The integration aims to enhance customer reach and supply capabilities.

Christoph Ganz, Sika's Regional Manager EMEA, stated that the acquisition marks a significant milestone in strengthening the company's position within the adhesives and sealants market. He highlighted that combining the product portfolios and distribution strengths of both companies is anticipated to generate added value for customers and unlock new growth opportunities.

Sika operates worldwide in the development and production of systems and products for bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing, and protection in the building sector and industry. The company aims to contribute to the environmental compatibility of the construction and transportation industries.
