Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler startup Simple Energy has launched its first family-oriented escooter, the Simple Wave, with prices beginning at ₹1.10 Lakh (ex-showroom). The new line-up includes six models across three variants: Simple Wave S, Simple Wave, and Simple Wave+. These models vary in battery capacity, display features, and connectivity options.
The top-tier Simple Wave+ features a 5 kWh battery, offering a certified range of 243 km and a top speed of 90 kmph. It is powered by a 6.4 kW motor delivering 179 Nm of torque. The other variants are equipped with battery capacities ranging from 2.2 kWh to 3.7 kWh, providing certified ranges between 110 km and 171 km.
Bookings for the Simple Wave are now open through the company's stores and website, with deliveries set to commence in the last week of September. The escooters come with portable chargers and support both standard and fast charging. Simple Energy states the top model can charge from 0-80% in approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Founded in 2019, Simple Energy competes in India's burgeoning electric two-wheeler market against players like Ola Electric and Ather Energy. The company aims to increase its monthly sales from around 1,500 units to 10,000 units by March 2027 by expanding its production capacity and retail network. The startup recently raised ₹250 crore (approximately $3 million) in a mix of debt and equity to scale manufacturing and prepare for a potential IPO.
