SimpliSafe adds human security guard to video doorbell
Home security company SimpliSafe launched a new video doorbell that combines AI detection with live human agents for proactive threat deterrence. The product is now available.

DIY home security company SimpliSafe has introduced a new proactive security feature for the front door.
The SimpliSafe Video Doorbell Series 2, launched today for $199.99, works with the company's Active Guard Outdoor Protection service (starting at $49.99 per month). This combines AI analysis with live agents to detect potential threats and respond proactively.
When the camera detects suspicious activity โ using a combination of on-device AI, cloud-based computer vision, and facial recognition โ a SimpliSafe monitoring agent can connect to the camera to "see, speak to, and attempt to deter potential intruders and package thieves," the company stated.
The new doorbell features 2K resolution and dual-band Wi-Fi. The move to integrate human oversight marks a shift in the consumer home security market toward a more active approach to monitoring.
