Singapore General Hospital Funds Autoimmune Disease Research and New Therapies
Singapore General Hospital has received a S$6 million grant to combat autoimmune diseases and is leading a S$5.8 million research project. In-depth studies of scleroderma are also receiving significant funding.

Singapore General Hospital (SGH) has secured a S$6 million grant to combat autoimmune diseases, while also spearheading a S$5.8 million research project focused on these chronic conditions.
Further contributing to research in the field, SGH is involved in an in-depth study titled "local scientific research" which has received S$106 million (577 million yuan) in funding. This research specifically aims to investigate the causes of scleroderma. Additionally, Elpis Biopharmaceuticals and SGH have initiated a collaboration for the potential development of novel therapeutics.
SGH's research initiatives extend to cancer treatment. The hospital is participating in a trial exploring the use of primed white blood cells from healthy donors to target and eliminate cancer cells. Furthermore, SGH has launched a new innovation center featuring a supercomputer to facilitate complex research endeavors.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, SGH has continued its efforts to advance healthcare. Research has indicated that unvaccinated individuals who recover from COVID-19 face a higher risk of heart complications. The hospital has also facilitated the sharing of experiences among healthcare workers, developed digital solutions for training, and employed 3D printing technology in various medical applications.
