Singapore Medical Student Alliance Renews Collaboration

Singapore, August 23, 2024 – The student bodies of Singapore's three medical schools have renewed their collaboration as the TriMedSoc Alliance. Established in 2021, the alliance brings together the NUS Medical Society, the NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine Students’ Medical Society, and the Duke-NUS Student Council.

The TriMedSoc Alliance was founded to foster collaboration among local medical students and provide a formal platform for discussing issues pertinent to them. It serves as the sole legitimate representative body for medical students in Singapore, aiming to unify student advocacy and community engagement efforts.

The renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) solidifies the relationship between the three organizations. It establishes an official platform for increased cooperation and the development of programs supporting the holistic advancement of the medical student community in Singapore. The initiative also seeks to bolster student-led efforts within the medical fraternity and the wider community.

Moving forward, the alliance plans to establish an advisory board comprising experienced doctors and administrators from the three medical schools. This board will aim to preserve the alliance's organizational knowledge over time and provide guidance to future TriMedSoc committees, which change annually.

The MOU renewal ceremony took place on August 17, 2024, during the opening of the National Medical Students' Convention 2024, reaffirming the organizations' commitment to representing the interests of medical students to external stakeholders.
