SingHealth Establishes Channel to Verify News Authenticity

Singapore Health Services (SingHealth) has introduced a dedicated channel for the public to verify the authenticity of news concerning its institutions. Individuals who encounter information they are unsure about are encouraged to send it via email to checkfakenews@singhealth.com.sg for verification.

The initiative aims to combat the spread of misinformation within the healthcare sector. SingHealth has clarified that the service will exclusively verify news directly related to SingHealth and its member institutions, such as Singapore General Hospital. It will not provide verification for general health facts or information originating from other entities.

When submitting a request, the public is advised to provide detailed information about the suspected news, including relevant write-ups or screenshots, along with the source of the information. SingHealth also reiterated its policy of never requesting money transfers over the phone and advised individuals to contact the ScamShield helpline at 1799 if they have any doubts.

Furthermore, SingHealth offers subscription services for trusted health advice and news updates. Healthcare professionals can also subscribe to exclusive industry updates.
