Singtel Launches Token-Based AI Service on Sovereign Cloud
Singtel's RE:AI business unit launched AI Token-as-a-Service on October 1, 2026, offering enterprises access to AI models and infrastructure via a token-based pricing model.

Singtel's digital infrastructure arm, RE:AI, launched AI Token-as-a-Service on October 1, 2026, in Singapore. The service provides enterprises with access to AI models, infrastructure, orchestration, and governance tools through a token-based pricing model.
The service targets enterprises that utilize multiple AI models and are adopting agentic AI, where autonomous software agents perform tasks across workflows. Singtel stated this can increase token costs and raise concerns about sending sensitive business data to AI systems hosted overseas.
RE:AI stated the service runs on its sovereign cloud infrastructure in Singapore for workloads requiring data sovereignty. It supports models including Qwen and Mistral, and allows customers to use non-sovereign AI clouds for less sensitive tasks.
The launch comes as Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) limits the transfer of personal data overseas unless organizations ensure comparable protection, making local AI processing and hosting more relevant for sensitive workloads.
