Sinopec commissions 50,000-tonne specialty PVA production facility

China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) has officially commissioned a new specialty polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) production facility with an annual capacity of 50,000 metric tons. The plant is located in Chongqing.

Operated by a Sinopec subsidiary, the facility aims to centralize the company's high-end PVA production onto a single site. PVA is a versatile polymer utilized across various industries, including textiles, adhesives, papermaking, and construction materials.

Sinopec stated that the new plant will enhance its market position and facilitate the development of specialized PVA products to meet growing demand, particularly from sectors like automotive and construction.

This expansion is part of Sinopec's broader strategy to increase its output of higher-value-added chemicals and bolster its competitive standing in the global market.
