SK Hynix Establishes U.S.-Based AI Investment Subsidiary Hyaico

SK Hynix has launched Hyaico Corp, a new U.S. investment entity chaired by SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, to oversee AI-related initiatives with a budget of up to $10 billion.

6 November 2026

South Korean semiconductor manufacturer SK Hynix has officially incorporated a U.S.-based subsidiary named Hyaico Corp. Regulatory filings indicate the entity will focus on expanding the firm’s footprint in the artificial intelligence sector, with plans to deploy up to $10 billion in capital for strategic investments.

SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won has been appointed as the board chair for Hyaico, signaling a high-level focus on the company's international AI strategy. Song Hyun-jong, president of SK Hynix, will serve as the chief executive officer of the new entity, which is formed through the restructuring of the existing SK Hynix NAND Product Solutions unit.

The investment arm is tasked with identifying new growth engines within the global AI ecosystem. By centralizing these operations in the United States, SK Hynix intends to strengthen its position in the competitive AI hardware and infrastructure market.

This move follows broader efforts by major memory chipmakers to align their research and development resources with the rapid expansion of AI technology. Hyaico will now act as the primary vehicle for the company’s AI-focused expansion efforts in the U.S. market.
