Construction firm Skanska announced it has signed a contract to build a new data center in Virginia, USA, for an existing client. The project is valued at USD 94 million, approximately SEK 870 million, and will be booked into Skanska’s US order intake for the second quarter of 2026.

The scope of work involves constructing a single-story, 17,700 square meter (190,000 SF) data center on an existing campus. The facility will include four colocation data halls, administrative office space, and comprehensive electrical, mechanical, civil, telecom, and security systems. Site and utility work, as well as interior fit-out, are also part of the contract.

This contract underscores the continued demand for data center infrastructure in the United States, a sector where Skanska has been actively expanding its capabilities. The project's location within an existing campus suggests a focus on expanding current client operations.

Skanska expects to include the contract in its second-quarter 2026 US order bookings. The specific client has not been disclosed due to confidentiality agreements. Construction is slated to commence shortly.
