Skanska has been awarded a contract by NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic to construct a new homeport pier at Naval Station Newport in Newport, Rhode Island, USA.

The contract is valued at $271 million, approximately SEK 2.5 billion, and will be booked into Skanska's US order bookings for the third quarter of 2026.

The project entails the demolition of the existing Pier 1, which measures approximately 30 meters by 482 meters, and the construction of a new pier. The new structure will be approximately 24 meters wide.

This new facility is designed to support the vessels and associated infrastructure at the active Navy installation, ensuring it meets modern operational and maintenance requirements for naval assets.
