Ski-Doo Marks 18th Year of Free Avalanche Awareness Seminars
Ski-Doo continues its 18th year of free avalanche awareness seminars. Over 35 seminars will be held across Canada and the United States to promote safety education.
For eighteen years, Ski-Doo has offered free avalanche awareness seminars to educate snowmobilers and winter adventurers. In 2026, the brand, owned by BRP Inc., is continuing this program for the 18th consecutive year, holding over 35 seminars across Canada and the United States in partnership with Backcountry Access (BCA).
The seminars are aimed at anyone traveling in avalanche terrain, providing education on recognizing avalanche risks, route planning, rescue techniques, and the use of safety equipment. To date, over 30,000 snowmobilers have attended, making this one of the longest-running and most trusted safety education programs in the snowmobile industry.
Ski-Doo emphasizes that safety is a shared responsibility and encourages attendees to bring friends, family, and their riding groups. Shared knowledge and skills within a group are critical in emergency situations. Many seminars include hands-on practice with avalanche transceivers, probes, and shovels to ensure proper use of safety gear.
BCA, a leader in avalanche safety equipment and education, has supported the program for its ninth consecutive year. Their expertise and innovative products enhance the seminar curriculum, helping riders understand the importance of preparation and the right equipment in the mountains.
The seminar content is updated annually to reflect modern riding styles, new technologies, and current avalanche forecasts. The goal is to ensure participants receive the latest information and best practices for backcountry travel.
