Sky Italia Redesigns IT Integration with API-First Cloud Platform

Sky Italia, in collaboration with Live Reply, has developed a new cloud-based integration platform designed to optimize the quality and time-to-market for its digital services. This initiative replaces a previous middleware architecture reliant on legacy software.

The platform employs an API-first strategy and automated scaling to improve system observability, operational efficiency, and reduce latency. It is built on AWS cloud services, adhering to the "Infrastructure as a Code" principle for automated environment provisioning and component reuse.

Leveraging Kong Inc.'s API Gateway, the new architecture integrates key functionalities such as digital service authentication, purchasing, and customer relationship management. Its modular design allows for replication across other business areas, contributing to reduced operational costs.

Live Reply also implemented ApiOps procedures for automated and error-free API publishing. Sky Italia received AWS-based tools for monitoring, troubleshooting, and business-oriented reporting.

This modernization is expected to accelerate service development, streamline integration management, and allow for greater focus on innovation, ultimately enhancing the customer experience.
