Skydance Completes Paramount Merger, Streaming Service Future Unclear
Skydance and Paramount merged on Tuesday, but the combined company has not detailed plans for unifying or pricing Paramount+ and HBO Max.

The merger between Skydance and Paramount has officially closed, raising significant questions about the future of their respective streaming services, Paramount+ and HBO Max.
Skydance announced in a press release that consumers can anticipate improvements to its streaming products and a unification into a single service "over time." However, no specific timeline for this consolidation or a pricing strategy has been disclosed. Currently, Paramount+ subscriptions start at $8.99 per month, while HBO Max plans begin at $10.99 per month.
Regarding existing bundles, such as the Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max package, the company stated there are no plans for immediate price or bundle changes. Skydance hinted at the possibility of new bundle options emerging in the future but did not provide further details when asked for comment.
Skydance, founded by David Ellison, acquired Paramount in August 2025 for $8 billion, following a prior co-financing deal. Paramount had previously agreed to purchase Warner Bros. earlier this year. Following the $110 billion merger, Skydance was delisted from the Nasdaq and now trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SKYD.
Investor sentiment appeared cautious, as Skydance shares closed down 6.72% on Wednesday, potentially reflecting concerns about the company's ability to generate value post-merger.
