Skydance to be the name of merged Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount

Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery will officially operate under the name Skydance following their approximately $110 billion merger, which is set to conclude next week. Skydance CEO David Ellison announced the name change in a post on X.

Ellison stated that the new name aims to provide the combined company with its own identity while allowing the Paramount and Warner Bros. brands to remain prominent. This decision finalizes the branding strategy for the merged entity.

The final major hurdle for the deal was cleared earlier this week when a judge approved a settlement between Paramount and California along with 11 other states that had filed a lawsuit against the acquisition. As part of the settlement, Paramount is required to release a specified amount of new content.
