Skydance to Merge HBO Max and Paramount Plus into Single Streamer
Skydance announced plans to merge HBO Max and Paramount Plus into a single streaming service as part of its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. Details on the timeline and the new name for the combined service are pending.

Skydance, now encompassing Warner Bros. Discovery following an $110 billion acquisition, has announced its intention to combine HBO Max and Paramount Plus into a unified streaming service.
The announcement came as part of a press release confirming the completion of the Warner Bros. Discovery deal. The release stated that both streamers will "unify into a single service over time."
Skydance CEO David Ellison had previously indicated this possibility in March during an investor call. At the time, Ellison noted that merging Paramount Plus and HBO Max would yield the combined entity "a little over 200 million direct-to-consumer subscribers."
Specifics regarding the timing of this transition and the branding of the merged platform have not yet been disclosed. The consolidation is expected to enhance Skydance's competitive standing in the streaming landscape.
