Skyworth Group Internally Developing Exoskeleton for Elderly Assistance
Chinese technology firm Skyworth Group is internally developing an exoskeleton product aimed at assisting the elderly with walking and mobility. The product will not be branded under Skyworth.
Chinese technology conglomerate Skyworth Group has initiated an internal project to develop a novel exoskeleton product. Reports indicate the device is primarily designed to aid elderly individuals by enhancing their walking capabilities and overall mobility.
The product is positioned for the consumer market, intending to alleviate stress on the lower limbs of older adults during activities such as walking, standing up, and navigating stairs. Notably, the technology will not be marketed under the Skyworth brand name. The development team is part of the innovation research institute within Skyworth Digital Technology Co., Ltd.
Currently in the testing phase, the project has seen multiple iterations developed internally. No official launch or mass production has commenced yet. Indications suggest the initiative began approximately a year ago, signaling sustained interest in this technological domain.
This internal development of an exoskeleton for mobility assistance may align with Skyworth's cautious stance on humanoid robots, a concern previously voiced by company founder Huang Hongsheng. While exoskeletons are already in use in sectors like industry and rehabilitation, Skyworth's focus appears to be on elderly domestic support.
