Sleep Apnea Treatment Pipeline Expands with Over 10 Pharma Companies Advancing Novel Therapies
More than 10 pharmaceutical companies are progressing new treatments for sleep apnea, with several promising therapies reaching late-stage clinical trials, according to a DelveInsight analysis. The pipeline includes diverse approaches to treating obstructive and central sleep apnea.

Over ten pharmaceutical companies are advancing new treatment candidates for sleep apnea, with several showing promising results in clinical trials. A DelveInsight analysis indicates that multiple novel therapeutics have reached advanced stages of development, suggesting a growing pipeline aimed at addressing the condition.
Incannex Healthcare received FDA Fast Track designation in December 2025 for its therapy IHL-42X for sleep apnea. The drug demonstrated up to an 83% reduction in the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) in Phase 2 trials.
Apnimed presented additional Phase 3 data in October 2025 for its drug AD109 from the SynAIRgy and LunAIRo studies, showing improvements in AHI, oxygen desaturation index (ODI), and hypoxic burden. In August 2025, the FDA approved Nyxoah's Genio hypoglossal nerve stimulation system for moderate-to-severe sleep apnea patients.
Companies such as Apnimed, RespireRx Pharmaceuticals, and Neurim Pharmaceuticals are developing treatments. Promising therapies in development include AD109, dronabinol, and GAL-475, targeting novel mechanisms for obstructive and central sleep apnea. AD109, Apnimed's most advanced oral therapy, is in Phase 3 clinical trials, with other pipeline candidates including neuromuscular modulators, cannabinoid-based therapies, and peripheral chemoreceptor modulators.
