Slice Small Finance Bank Appoints Former SBI, ICICI Bank Executives to Board
Slice Small Finance Bank has appointed former SBI chief general manager Samir Sawhney as executive director and former ICICI Bank senior executive Ramesh Kumar as an independent director to its board.

Slice Small Finance Bank has bolstered its board with the appointments of two seasoned banking executives. Samir Sawhney, previously a chief general manager at State Bank of India (SBI), has joined as an executive director. Ramesh Kumar, a former senior executive at ICICI Bank, has been appointed as an independent director. Both appointments have secured approval from the bank's board and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Sawhney brings over three decades of experience in banking, encompassing treasury operations, retail banking, and human resources. His prior roles include leading the development of India's residential mortgage-backed securities market and overseeing treasury operations at SBI, managing significant domestic and foreign assets. Kumar possesses more than 30 years of experience in banking, financial services, technology, and digital transformation. He spent two decades at ICICI Bank leading its technology management group and developing its digital banking platforms.
The appointments follow slice SFB's recent merger with North East Small Finance Bank, which was officially completed and renamed in February 2025. The entity, originally founded as a fintech startup in 2016, has since expanded its offerings beyond initial payment and credit products to include personal loans and UPI services.
Slice SFB has also demonstrated significant financial progress. For the quarter ending June 2026, the bank reported a profit after tax of INR 50.9 crore, a notable improvement from a net loss in the prior year's corresponding quarter. Total income for the period rose by 38.6% year-on-year.
