Smart #2 Electric Vehicle to Debut in Paris with 410km Range
Specifications for the new Smart #2 electric vehicle have been released. The car is set to debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, featuring an estimated electric range of 410 kilometers.
The new Smart #2 electric vehicle has had its specifications published, detailing its features and performance. Built on the ECA electric compact architecture, the car is a two-seater micro-EV. It will have its global premiere at the Paris Motor Show on October 12 and is expected to launch in mid-November.
The Smart #2 is designed with urban mobility in mind, featuring a two-door, two-seat layout. Its dimensions measure 2751mm in length, 1669mm in width, and 1555mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1875mm. The vehicle utilizes front and rear tires of different widths to enhance both steering agility and grip. Interior space efficiency has been improved through the ECA architecture, with a lower floor 25mm lower than the previous model, providing 1000mm of headroom.
Safety is a key focus for the #2 model. The vehicle can be equipped with up to seven airbags, including front, side, and curtain airbags. Additionally, it incorporates 16 active and passive safety technologies, such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist systems. These features are designed to improve safety in high-frequency urban driving scenarios.
In terms of powertrain, the Smart #2 features a highly integrated electric drive system delivering a power density of up to 5kW/kg. It accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The 35.8kWh battery, using CATL lithium iron phosphate cells, offers a CLTC range of up to 410 kilometers. Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes under 15 minutes. An intelligent energy recovery system offers multiple modes, including an adaptive setting that uses navigation and sensor data to adjust deceleration based on road conditions.
The chassis, featuring MacPherson suspension at the front and a five-link independent suspension at the rear, has been jointly tuned with Mercedes-Benz. The new Smart #2 will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, with market availability expected in November. The model is built on the ECA platform, which is the first mass-produced pure electric platform specifically designed for two-seater vehicles.
