Smart Shooter Awarded $150 Million U.S. Contract for Counter-Drone Systems
The U.S. Department of War has awarded Smart Shooter a single-award IDIQ contract with a ceiling of up to $150 million for its SMASH counter-drone systems.
Smart Shooter announced it has received a 36-month, single-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract from the U.S. Department of War's Joint Interagency Task Force 401 (JIATF-401). The contract has a maximum ordering ceiling of $150 million and designates Smart Shooter as the sole supplier for SMASH fire control systems, training, and related services.
The contract will support the JIATF-401 Domestic Shield Program, addressing force protection, base defense, and counter-unmanned aerial systems (UAS) requirements for U.S. operations both domestically and internationally. Future deliveries will be determined by individual task orders under the framework.
The SMASH system integrates artificial intelligence, computer vision, and target-tracking algorithms. It is a rifle-mounted system designed to track targets, calculate firing solutions, and synchronize shot release for precise engagement of small, fast-moving targets like drones, while retaining its primary function against ground targets. The operator retains final engagement authority.
This award follows previous contracts between Smart Shooter and JIATF-401, as well as several awards from other U.S. military branches. Thousands of SMASH systems are currently deployed across U.S. military services. Smart Shooter's systems are also used by defense and security forces in the U.S., Israel, the UK, Germany, and other allied nations.
