smart, the electric vehicle joint venture between Geely and Mercedes-Benz, unveiled the production version of its #2 model at the Paris Motor Show. The new vehicle marks a return to the brand's signature two-seater city car format.
The car was designed by Mercedes-Benz's global design team and is built on the new Electric Compact Architecture platform, measuring 2,746 mm in length for standard versions. The European specification includes a 60 kW rear-mounted motor and a 35.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, targeting a WLTP range of 290 km. The company states that 65 kW DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes.
smart also introduced a Couture Edition, limited to 999 units for Europe and 999 units for China. The Chinese market will receive Premium and Couture Edition variants, while Europe will also offer Pure and Pure+ trims.
The introduction of the #2 signifies a strategic shift back towards ultra-compact urban electric vehicles, following the brand's previous diversification into larger electric models.
