SmartAC Introduces Gen2 Sensor for Broader HVAC System Monitoring
SmartAC has launched its new Gen2 sensor, an affordable, non-Wi-Fi, non-wired device. The aim is to extend its AI-powered HVAC intelligence to a wider range of residential properties.

HOUSTON – SmartAC, an AI-native platform for residential HVAC intelligence, has introduced its purpose-built intelligence model and the SmartAC Gen2 Sensor. This new hardware is designed to bring HVAC system monitoring to a broader market, including homes not currently enrolled in maintenance programs.
The Gen2 sensor is presented as a low-cost, easy-to-install hardware solution that bypasses the need for Wi-Fi connectivity or extensive wiring. SmartAC reports that its existing contractor partners have seen nearly a 20% increase in revenue per home where their system is used. The new sensor aims to extend this visibility to homes previously out of reach, targeting the approximately 80% of homeowners not part of any maintenance or membership program.
The sensor captures data on HVAC system performance, which is then analyzed by the AI model to identify potential issues early. This approach allows for proactive maintenance, potentially reducing costly emergency repairs and enhancing customer satisfaction. SmartAC states its model is built on data collected over three years from more than 90,000 connected homes.
SmartAC plans to showcase the Gen2 sensor at the Pantheon event in Orlando from October 5-7. The company believes the new model and hardware represent the industry's first proprietary frontier model for residential HVAC, trained on real-world system physics and operation. The Gen2 sensor is now available to SmartAC's contractor partners.
