SmartViz wins two awards at Building Innovation Awards 2026
SmartViz has been awarded in two categories at the Building Innovation Awards 2026. The awards recognize the company's evidence-led approach to building optimization.

Magic Hour AI's SmartViz platform has secured two wins at the Building Innovation Awards 2026, taking home 'Most Innovative New Product (Digital)' and 'Best Asset Management Innovation'. These accolades recognize the company's focus on using evidence of actual human usage to inform building design, management, and retrofitting.
The SmartViz system provides insights into how real estate is utilized, assisting organizations like universities and corporations in identifying underused spaces. For instance, the University of Glasgow uncovered potential avoided capital expenditure exceeding £14 million and annual operational savings over £1 million. Cardiff Metropolitan University also avoided £5.1 million in new construction costs.
The technology integrates data from IoT sensors, building management systems, and room booking information into a live, 3D digital twin. This empowers estate directors and facilities managers to make more informed decisions regarding operations, investment, and future design. The company argues that many current buildings are inefficient, consuming more energy than necessary due to operations based on assumptions rather than actual occupancy patterns.
Dr. Shrikant Sharma, Founder and CEO of SmartViz, stated that many "smart buildings" lack true intelligence because they fail to measure actual human space utilization. He emphasized that efficiency and savings can be found in underutilized spaces by measuring buildings based on their real use. The Building Innovation Awards jury recognized SmartViz for its scalability, measurable impact on estate optimization, avoided capital expenditure, reduced operating costs, and significant carbon benefits.
