Síminn Warns of Surge in Phishing Emails
Icelandic telecom operator Síminn hf. has reported an increase in phishing emails targeting its customers. The company is urging caution and working to block the malicious messages.

Síminn hf., an Icelandic telecommunications provider, has alerted its customers to a rise in fraudulent email activity. The company noted that an increasing number of phishing emails are bypassing standard spam filters and are being sent to customers.
These deceptive emails often prompt recipients to click on suspicious links or buttons. Examples include messages falsely claiming issues with network security, such as "Warning: Unencrypted network connection – Click here to enable secure encryption." Clicking these links directs users to fake websites designed to steal personal information. Síminn strongly advises customers against interacting with such messages.
The company stated that the fraudulent emails are specifically being sent to Símminn.net email addresses. Síminn is collaborating with CERT-IS and other network operators to shut down the domains used for distributing these phishing attempts and to block their reception.
Síminn has provided customers with the following security recommendations: Do not click on links within suspicious emails. Always verify the sender's identity carefully. Never provide passwords or personal information via email. If uncertain about an email's legitimacy, customers are advised to delete the message or contact Síminn's customer service via phone, online chat, or in person at their stores.
