Smithsonian Launches VR Astronomy Experience in Multiple Cities
The Smithsonian has launched a 40-minute virtual reality astronomy walkthrough called "Smithsonian Starstruck: An Immersive Experience." The program takes visitors on a journey through space and will expand to several U.S. cities.

The Smithsonian has introduced "Smithsonian Starstruck: An Immersive Experience," a 40-minute virtual reality program that transports participants through space. The immersive journey includes visits to celestial bodies such as the Sun, the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way, and a distant exoplanet.
The experience premiered in Washington D.C. in May, with current ticket prices for solo adults ranging from $29 to $35, and group tickets for four or more starting at $18. The institution is offering a 15 percent discount on all tickets. Expansion plans include opening the VR experience in Denver, Orlando, and San Antonio later this year.
Before commencing the virtual tour, attendees can customize settings within the VR interface, such as enabling closed captioning. The program aims to provide an engaging and educational exploration of the universe, reportedly eliciting strong reactions from early visitors.
The rollout across multiple cities signifies the Smithsonian's initiative to broaden access to advanced, immersive learning and entertainment experiences for the public.
